Aura's Helping Hands

Beauty has the power to uplift — and we believe that power should be shared.

Where It All Began

At 13, Riya fell in love with nail art. But it didn't take long for her to realize that doing someone's nails wasn't really about the polish — it was about sitting with a person, giving them your full attention, and making them feel truly cared for.

That insight led to Aura's Helping Hands, Riya's vision to bring free nail care services to residents of long-term care homes across Ontario. Inspired by her own grandparents — and the joy she feels spending time with them — Riya wants to bring that same warmth to seniors who could use a little extra light in their day.

Using only non-toxic, low-odour nail products that are safe for sensitive skin and care environments, Riya visits residents one-on-one — not just to paint nails, but to share a conversation, a smile, and a moment of connection. She's learned that what she receives in those visits is just as meaningful as what she gives.

"There's something that happens when you sit with someone and do something kind for their hands — it's quietly meaningful for both people in the room. I want more of that."
